1.2 - Employee Job Satisfaction
The Icelandic company Capacent (earlier Gallup) has performed job satisfaction surveys for Icelandic companies for years.
Through their participati
on in these surveys, companies can compare the outcome with numbers from other companies, and can also use the opportunity to improve work conditions and increase employee engagement where necessary.
Alcoa and Landsvirkjun have commissioned Capacent to perform job satisfaction surveys among the employees for the past few years, and the results can be seen on this page.

Rationale for Indicator Selection
Alcoa and Landsvirkjun can have a direct effect on their employees' welfare. A workforce that is content with its workplace and experiences high job satisfaction will have a higher retention rate than a discontented group of employees.
The long term retention of Alcoa and Landsvirkjun employees increases the economic stability of the Karahnjukar and Fjardaal areas. By conducting an annual employee survey on workplace and job satisfaction Alcoa and Landsvirkjun will be able to monitor employee attitudes and, where necessary, implement changes.
